Mohammad Sami Jarghoun was a Palestinian journalist from Rafah. He worked for Smart Media and was deeply involved in the progressive student movement. He was not only a dedicated journalist, he was also a loving father. In December 2020, Mohammads first child was born, a little baby girl named Maha. Her name in arabic comes from the name of a gazelle that is native to the middle east and famous for its beautiful eyes and gracious walk. Mohammad was shot by the Israeli military while he was reporting in Khan Younes. He was wearing a press vest. Maha was just two years old when her father was killed by Israel. Mohammad had only two short years to share his love with his daughter before he was taken from her. If she survives, she will grow up never having the chance to truly know the father who cherished her.
